Aaron Willoughby - Dancing for Hospice Rotorua

Tekin Industries Director Takes It Off For Hospice

They say to live life on the edge of your comfort zone… Well Tekin Industries Director Aaron Willoughby just fell off the cliff. Normally shy and humble, Aaron swapped the mouse and keyboard fire for the dancing shoes and in front of over 2000 people performed in this years Harcourts dancing for Hospice in Rotorua. Both Aaron and dance partner Philly Angus, are both dancing amateurs with no previous experience, and joined nine other amateur dance couples to raise over $140,000.00 in this years event.

All the dancers were paired and matched by dance teachers Elly-ann Pritchard and Troy Smith. Each couple was then given their dance genre and song… and then a very intense 16 x week dance practice regime was implemented to ensure all dancers were ready come showtime.

Aaron & Philly danced the Samba to Eye of the Tiger and were not only crowd favourites but were also favourites amongst the judges. Scoring the first perfect 10’s of the night is something that Aaron & Philly will remember forever.

“I was petrified of the thought of having to learn to dance and then perform in front of 2000 people… then I found out on day 1 I would be dancing with no shirt on!! I think I spent the next 16 x weeks more worried about no shirt than I did having to learn to dance. Such an amazing event, and for a wonderful cause in Hospice Rotorua. The amount of people from Rotorua that turn out every year and donate generously is testiment to how much Hospice means to our community. One of the highlights of my life so far for sure.”Aaron Willoughby
